When you chase your passion, work is fun.

When you chase your passion, work is fun.

While vacationing with family at Melbourne Beach, I saw this retriever braving waves to collect his prize—a precious tennis ball. Over and over, the dog leapt with joy into the surf.

He was smart about the process. Rather than a blind charge, he noted the ball’s location, then waited a few seconds to see which way the current pushed his toy. Once he verified the trajectory, he paddled hard. Nothing stopped him from intercepting his trophy. Neither churning water nor choppy waves stopped him.

Are we as dedicated pursuing our passions?

God equips us with the ability to have what delights us, but we won’t find satisfaction lounging on the sandy beach. We have to be alert to opportunity and go forward with energetic commitment. Reward comes with active pursuit.

Today’s Bible verse:

“The Lord will march out like a champion, like a warrior he will stir up his zeal; with a shout he will raise the battle cry and will triumph over his enemies” (Isaiah 42:13 NIV).
