A glass of fresh, cold milk. A soft yeast roll, no butter.
These simple pleasures make for a feast, when one has a grateful heart.
Thanksgiving is an opportunity to celebrate abundance. We may be surrounded by loved ones at a table laden with delicious food such as fried turkey, cranberry sauce, golden cornbread, and collard greens.
But even if the holiday dinner is lacking, and there are empty chairs at the gathering, we can rejoice.
“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him,” (James 1:12 NIV).
Take time to consider the blessings we have.
“Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever,” (Psalm 106:1 NIV).
