This little guy is going to church...Uh Oh!

Being around people with a great sense of humor brings joy. Sandy Carpenter is someone who brightens days. She texted me this picture while pet sitting.

“My son is the worship pastor at a church in a nearby city,” Sandy wrote. “They got in so late last night that instead of them coming to pick their dog up at my house, I brought the dog to church this morning!”

We shared a chuckle since her caption, “Who took the dog to church,” references the audio book she narrated for my novel.

Did the pet bark along with the hymns and jump on the pews?

“We put him in Kyle’s office,” Sandy replied, and I’m sure her eyes twinkled with mischief. “Evangelism gone to the dogs.”

How about you? Do you have a funny story about a time someone’s playfulness made you smile?

If you like contemporary fiction with humor about small-town antics, consider reading Who Brought the Dog to Church? Two reviews follow:

This book was such a delight to read. It reminds me of growing up in a small town and how people can come together for the betterment of others. It’s a story of hope, caring and God’s goodness. The dog is such a great representation of how a dog can bring people together. It almost reminds me of a classic movie that brings hope and happiness. Would highly recommend it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Unusual subject, great debut novel

This is a powerful book for a debut novel. There are a lot of characters; the story switches viewpoints from one chapter to another. I was baffled for a little while about how the older ladies were connected with the young mother who was being abused by her husband, but after a while everything made sense. I found the story quite gripping, and found myself thinking about it in between times when I was able to read a couple of chapters, wondering if Sarah would be able to get away, or stay away, from the man who was abusing her. Each person’s thoughts and feelings were described so vividly that I found myself very wrapped up in this story.
