One survey found many people desire tripling their yearly earnings to feel joyous.
“Median household income in the U.S. stands at about $74,000 annually, but respondents told Empower that they'd need to earn roughly $284,000 each year to achieve happiness,” according to a CBS News article by Elizabeth Napolitano.*
The sign pictured here has a humbler take. I took the photo in a local thrift shop with resale items. The message suggests that simple things in life can satisfy, if we learn to see gifts at hand. With the right mindset, we can enjoy a used 50-cent paperback.

Pursuing simple joys can bring a smile, without mortgaging the future to heavy debt. Not having to worry about bills definitely will put smiles on our faces. We know our Heavenly Father provides what we need.
“May the righteous be glad and rejoice before God; may they be happy and joyful,” (Psalm 68:3 NIV).
Today’s prayer:
Dear Lord, please help us curb desires for more, more, more. We have You, we have sunshine, and we have food on the table. Please teach us how to manage financial resources responsibly. Amen.
