Easter reminds us that physical death is temporary.

Easter reminds us that physical death is temporary.

During a recent park trip, I noticed a beautiful foot bridge leading over a small brook from one grassy area to the next. I loved how a giant oak beside it shaded the nook. The burble of water gently moving created a sweet and peaceful sound.

On our life trek in this physical terrain, we often wonder if there is more after death. Do we have souls that survive?

Mortals face their limitations, hoping that survival extends beyond flesh and blood. Seeking this reassurance is particularly important for anyone who has had a loved one die.

Is there more than we can see with natural eyes?

Jesus told Nathanael, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man,” (John 1:51 NIV).

Easter celebrates the renewed life in both a physical, and spiritual, dimension. We can be certain there is more life ahead, even if we don’t yet grasp how the bridge of Jesus transports us from an earthly dimension to the heavenly one.

Jesus traveled to graveyards and returned to give life. He said, “I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.” (Revelation 1:18 NIV)

He will set his faithful believers free.
