Terrance chooses to see options instead of problems

Sultry saxophone sounds drifted across the parking lot. The source was a young man outside the shopping center early on a Sunday morning.

No one paid a ticket to hear his music, nor did crowds applaud. He gave music as a gift for any who would take the time to listen.

I parked, did my shopping and determined to head home, but something about the bluesy notes drifting across the parking lot drew me closer to the man standing alone with no protection from the weather.

“Hello,” I said, driving near to where he played.

He smiled.

“Tell me about your music.”

“I play because people appreciate music that’s real,” he said.

He added that he has a small studio and dreams of producing an album. That goal is lofty from the concrete where he stands beside a small wagon with his few worldly possessions.

His treasure is the shiny instrument tended with care. “I bought this a week ago with $100,” he said.

Thanking him for the beautiful notes, I left him with a poncho since rain approached.

His dream may seem unreachable from the limitations of a parking lot. However, if God has planted in him the desire to worship, no performance is unheard.

Do we also persist in creating what’s precious, even if no one else seems to notice?

Today’s Bible verse:

“My heart, O God, is steadfast, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music.” Psalm 57:7 NIV
